MIDAS launches a Short Course for the Geotechnical Engineers focused on Finite Element Methodologies in Tunnel Engineering. This course will provide e-learning opportunity by our MIDAS expert engineer. This course will help you enhance Modelling and Analysis aptitude using the geotechnical software tool midas GTS NX

    Twin Metro Tunnel in Layered Soil (2D)

    Urban Subway scenario demands Excavation of Twin Tunnels & as they run  parallel along the length, the model can be 2D with Plain Strain Condition which is dealt in this session.

  • Session 3                (April 24, 2020)

    Construction Stage Analysis of Simple Circular Tunnel with Shotcrete Lining (3D)

    Discussion on Simple Circular Tunnel with Shotcrete in 3D, considering Analysis across the Stages of Construction focusing on the stress dispersion during these stages.

  • Session 4              (April 27, 2020)

    Quick Modelling and Analysis of Horse Shoe Tunnel with Lining and Rock-bolts using Tunnel Wizard (3D)

    Let’s explore quick modelling techniques with midas GTS NX Tunnel Wizard feature that requires negligible effort to modell a Tunnel in 3D along with  Boundary Conditions

    D Shaped Railway/Roadway Tunnel in Hilly Terrain (3D)

    Predicting the Slope/Terrain & Tunnel behavior with Staged Excavation in Railway & Roadway Tunnels for Hilly Terrain, where prediction of displacement/stresses are difficult and conservative

    Double Lined Tunnel Modelling (3D)

    Tunnel behavior with linings in stages of excavation can be predicted with ease using GTS NX features. Especially in  NATM construction where Primary  & Secondary lining resists Short & Long term ground loads respectively.

  • Session 7            

    (May 04, 2020)

    Construction Stage Analysis of Tunnel with Cross Passage using Stage Wizard (3D)

    2D Analysis & Design of Tunnels cannot appropriately access the behavior of Cross & Main Tunnel Intersection, which is more vulnerable. This session covers the necessary 3D Modelling & Analysis approach in this regard.

    Deep Excavation for Metro Station (3D)

    Discussion on the impact of Deep excavation in Urban Areas  with restricted  choice of lateral support system ( D-walls, Walers, Struts and Anchors) due to presence of adjacent Buildings, Bridges and Tunnels, with special attention on Metro Station

    (May 08, 2020)

    Lowering of TBM Shaft into the Tunnel -Modeling and Analysis (3D)

    One of the purpose of Shaft is for the TBM to enter the  Launch Chamber. Discussion on how an appropriate 3D  FEM approach can be adopted to examine the most vulnerable, intersection behavior of Shaft-Launch Chamber & Tunnel.
